Five things to know
for the perfect burn
The first burn
On your very first light — and ideally every burn — allow the wax to melt all the way to the rim of the jar. This sets the wax memory, preventing tunnelling and ensuring an even, lasting burn every time after. Allow at least 2–3 hours for a full melt pool to form on that first burn.
The wick — leave it be
Unlike some candles, Lunaire Forever Jars generally don't need wick trimming. Our natural wicks are designed to self-regulate. The only exception: if your flame is burning unusually strong or large, extinguish the candle, let it cool completely, then trim slightly before relighting.
Burn time
Limit each burn session to no more than 4 hours. Beyond this, the wick can become too long, the flame too large, and the scent throw uneven. Let the jar cool completely before relighting for best results.
Know when to stop
When around 10mm of wax remains, it's time to extinguish and order your next refill. Lunaire Forever Jars are aluminium — they can technically burn all the way to the end safely. But stopping at 10mm makes removing the remaining wax effortless and keeps your jar in perfect condition for its next life. How to refill your Forever Jar →
Burn safely
Always burn on a flat, heat-safe surface, away from drafts, curtains, and flammable materials. Keep out of reach of children and pets. Never leave a lit candle unattended. Extinguish completely before leaving the room or sleeping.
Your Lunaire Forever Jar may naturally develop gentle signs of use over time — a subtle warmth in the aluminium, small traces of wax, the faint marks of a ritual well-lived. We think that's beautiful. It means your jar has held a hundred quiet moments, and it's ready for a hundred more.
Why the
aluminium matters
Lunaire Forever Jars are crafted from aluminium — a material that retains and distributes heat beautifully. As your candle burns deeper, the jar warms more evenly from top to base.
That means even if you notice a little tunnelling at the start of a burn, the remaining wax will often self-correct and melt fully by the end of the session. The jar works with the wax, not against it.
This is part of our intentional design — balancing safe burning temperatures with maximum scent throw. Don't worry if the melt pool isn't perfectly flat every time. As long as you allow enough time for the wax to reach the edges on your first and follow-up burns, your Forever Jar will do the rest.

Wick not

We use fully natural wicks because we refuse to compromise on what goes into your home. But like all things from nature — they're not always perfectly predictable.
Sometimes a wick won't stay alight, or it may behave a little differently burn to burn. This isn't a flaw in your candle. It's the honest nature of a natural material. And it's always something we can sort out for you.
